Had a great experience in here with my son. The food arrived quick and the customer service is just awesome. Prices are reasonable.

This spot is the one I always prefer. I go to many restaurants but to this one I go the most. The stuff is very affectionate and the cooking they serve is so flavorful. I never miss an opportunity to have a nice meal here. I highly recommend this place.

Go for the curry chips and a pint of Monks. You won't regret it!

Local pub. Live down the street from this place and it's awesome! Has a English pub vibe. Has outside seating in the front and has a fireplace in the back. Huge fan of this place.

This is a real pub, not some sports bar or fern bar. They pour great beers and drinks, and have solid pub fare. (Decidedly not a foodie destination, but great pubs rarely are). The old-world vibe, well-worn wood interiors, dart board and music all support an incredibly interesting and friendly staff. It's a place where someone familiar with legitimate pubs in the UK or Ireland would completely feel at home. One could envision churlish poets, frantic college students, dreamers and do-ers all meeting up as inspiring equals in this setting. Chatting could be a national sport if you all would just visit this fabulous hidden gem.

If you are looking for an English pub, this is it. The beer is mostly English and the food is really good as well. I had, arguably, the best fish and chips I have ever had.

Trials Pub, located in one of Downtown San Jose's oldest and original historic buildings. You can see the old world craftsmanship in the interior from the pressed tin ceiling to the wood work and original fireplace. Excellent craft bottled domestic and foreign beers. A large tap selection with a couple beers on tap regularly flown in from Germany, not available in the US. Hearty appetizers and a pub dinner menu with specials daily. Shepherds Pie, ploughman's cheese platter, hamburgers, bangers & mash, English Curry chips, Mud Pie etc. This is a great pub with always friendly customers and staff.

Awesome historic building. Has genuine, old charm in a city thats bustling with the modern, new, and synthetic.Drinks and service were good. Food was pretty yummy too. I liked my Shepherds Pie. Will return again another time.

Rare to find a pub with no TVs. Great cozy atmosphere and nice selection of English beers on draft. Great pub food and huge portions!

This is a nice cosy little English pub. No loud music making it possible to have actual conversations. They have a nice little fireplace as well. Their chicken pot pie with salad is amazing. As for their beer I recommend the Dragon Slayer. Γ°ΕΈΛΕ

Decent pub. Good selection of beers on tap. Great seasoned fries. The Buffalo wings could use some work though. Nice atmosphere to hangout.

If this was 10 years ago, the rating would've been 5 stars. The bartenders used to be loud, engaging with a keen sense of humor. Went back last night for a bit of nostalgia and was happy to see a lot of people engrossed in conversations and the bar looks esentially the same with some minor furniture changes. But now, the bartender (albeit she is pretty which is always a plus) was blah, the drinks were so so and the ambiance was just OK. I go to a pub for the energy/people and sorry, it just ain't the same as the good ol' days. Glad I got my nostalgia fix but that itch has been scratched...so unless my friends are dead set on going there, the Duke of Edinburgh or Fibbar MaGees in Sunnyvale are the better places to be for me.

Always a chill friendly atmosphere, no DJ's, no club scene; just a chill pub with hella good food. As a side note: I dream of the spicy chips and curry here.

Friendly staff. Good food. Bar games. Small place; requires you to squeeze past people when it gets crowded.
Amy Krashed
Awesome, friendly bartenders. No TV which is what I look for in a pub! They have tons of games and darts. Great selection of beer.
Maurine Starkey

This place is super cute and quaint!! I love the music and the fooooood is sooooooo goooooooood. Friendly staff and cool chill vibe. But the food, it is so good! I ordered the hot chicken salad and it was super delicious. Then I ordered the cheese and sausage platter I forgot the name because the drinks are amazing too. You can enjoy this place in a small group or as a loaner!!

British bar food. Random British stuff on the walls. NO FREAKING TVS ANYWHERE. If you've ever been to Britain and you miss the pubs, this is the place to go. Dark, there's even a fireplace. So. Cozy.

I was in San Diego for a week on business, decided to check this spot out one night. Walked like 10 of the most random blocks to get there. Had a great time talking with the barman, great food, great beer. Overall excellent experience and would recommend it to anyone.
Jochen Albrecht
One of the most affordable pubs in the area without being dingy. Decent selection of pub food (beware their curry sauce though, it is of a kind that you would have found in the UK before Indian restaurants became popular there and is neither spicy nor Indian). Good for groups.
Manuela Cortez Machado
Came as a friend recommended. Had the chicken curry. Good, but not perfect.
Kevin Cullen
Great atmosphere, delicious beverages on tap, actual imported food with the taste of home for those of us lucky enough to have be been over there... Staff are worth return visits, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable.
